Cupcake down. Image courtesy of stock.xchng®Instead of compiling a list of this week’s must-reads, I tripped and fell. Seriously. This is not a dog-ate-my-homework post.

After a networking meeting today, I went to the restroom–and forgot there was a huge step down as I was exiting. Horribly embarrassing, but at least everyone else had already left the building. Now I’m all about RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) for not one but two ankles.

With that, I leave with you a Fresh Yarn “mash up” — two different essays about Lucille Ball. Very appropriate for this occaision.

p.s. I’d also be willing to bet that Fresh Yarn editor Hilary Carlip is a “Glee” fan.

What do you think?

Thank you for all the well wishes — and for not teasing me about tripping. Living in Colorado, it’s common to see people on crutches, but it’s usually due to a “legit” skiing, snowboarding or climbing accident. Not a coffee-related disaster!

Hi Jesaka– sorry you tripped; I know all about RICE, and it slows you down. I always wonder if something’s trying to tell me something…. I’ve enjoyed getting your posts. I’m not sleeping well and still pushing myself to try a post a day even if short. Then there’s a ton of mail from She Writes… good challenges and not enough time to try them all.

I take it you are in the Denver area? I’m in Fort Collins. There might be some contract writing opps up this way… I haven’t explored all of that in some time, but I used to freelance for some ad agencies here, as well as a few weekly newspapers.

Don’t know if you saw my post Invasion of the Sea-men, or At the Mercy of Royalty… some good laughs available. I hope you feel better soon. You can always contact me directly at palabrasymas@hotmail.com — best j
